Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get to Mrs. Mouse's Kitchen?
We are located at 4223 Wieuca Overlook, Atlanta, GA 30342. Click here for a map to our location.

What should I wear to class?
You may bring your own apron if you wish, but Mrs. Mouse has an apron that you may borrow. OSHA requires that closed-toed shoes (no flip-flops or sandals) be worn by class participants. Good sanitation requires that long hair be secured. Dress comfortably to have a good time.

Why are Mrs. Mouse’s classes so small?

All of the classes at Mrs. Mouse’s Kitchen are hands-on experiences. Every child participates! This means that every student practices the cooking technique for that particular lesson. In order for each student to receive personal attention from Mrs. Mouse during the course of each lesson, class sizes are limited. This makes all of our classes semi-private experiences.

Why do the classes cost so much?
Actually, compared to a one-hour piano lesson, Mrs. Mouse’s cooking classes are a bargain! Our classes run from two to three hours in length. All supplies and food costs are included in the tuition. Food costs are higher for hands-on cooking classes as compared to demonstration-only cooking classes, simply because we use more food.

Why doesn’t Mrs. Mouse just conduct demonstration classes to keep the cost low?
Children do enjoy demonstration classes…for about ten minutes! Then they want to get their hands in on the action. Hands-on cooking is the best way to learn culinary arts. Mrs. Mouse will always include demonstrations as part of her teaching technique, but all of her lesson plans focus on getting the children involved with the actual preparation of the menu. We really cook!

Birthday Parties are limited to eight children and four adults. Why can’t we have ten children and two adults?
Space is limited in Mrs. Mouse’s Kitchen. There are only eight spaces at the worktable. Mrs. Mouse insists on creating a quality experience for her guests.

How do I pay?
Mrs. Mouse is happy to accept personal checks or money orders, but for many scheduled classes you can also submit your payment online by using your Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover card. Simply visit the page of the program for which you wish to register and choose the appropriate links to be directed to our secure PayPal site. You can pay your registration fees, tuition or both online! Please note that registration fees and some deposits are non-refundable.

What are Mrs. Mouse's qualifications?
Mrs. Mouse AKA Arue Norris Moore is a cum laude graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in Theatre and Speech. She received her degree in the Culinary Arts from the Art Institute of Atlanta in 1999, with Honors. She is a proud member of the American Culinary Federation. Arue has been teaching and entertaining children as Mrs. Mouse since 1992.

Does Mrs. Mouse have insurance?
Yes, of course! All students who are not accompanied by a parent or guardian are required to sign and submit indemnity forms.

Will my personal information ever be given or sold to any third-party?
Never. We only use your personal and contact information in order to contact you about your business with Mrs. Mouse and to update you on new programs and events.

Why are Summer Camp deposits non-refundable?
A lot of preparation goes into making your child’s Summer Camp experience an enjoyable and worthwhile one. Because we work with food and scarce amounts of time, Mrs. Mouse cannot refund your Summer Camp deposits. She will, however, be happy to work with you to reschedule another time during which the student(s) can make up their missed classes.

What if my child gets sick and cannot attend class?
Please give Mrs. Mouse a call: 404-459-8111. She will be happy to reschedule your class. And thank you for keeping your sick child at home. Nobody wants to share germs, especially in the kitchen!

What is Mrs. Mouse's cancellation policy?
You may cancel your class registration prior to 48 hours of the scheduled class. Cancellations within 48 hours or no-shows will be charged the full class fee. (Fresh food and supplies are purchased based on the number of people registered and cannot be returned if you or your child are a no-show.) Your timely cancellation allows us to contact students on our waiting list. Refunds are made when a registered student cancels their class registration 48 hours before the start of the class. Moreover, you may request your refund be used to register for a future class.

• Mrs. Mouse, Inc. reserves the right to cancel any class that does not have a sufficient number of students. You will be notified should this occur. Mrs. Mouse, Inc. reserves the right to substitute instructors or make menu changes in the event of an emergency. Please note we will do our best to avoid any changes.

• In the event of inclement weather, (snow, ice, etc.) we close when the City of Atlanta Public Schools close. The class will be rescheduled at a later date.

• Summer Camp Particulars: The cost for Summer Camp is three hundred dollars ($300) plus a fifty dollar ($50) registration fee. After May 1, 2006, the late registration fee is one hundred dollars ($100). Registration fees are non-refundable. The balance will be due 30 days in advance of the first day of class. You are always welcome to pay your tuition on our website.

1) You may cancel fifteen days (15) before the start of camp and receive a full refund of your tuition. Registration fees are non-refundable.

2) If you cancel after this fifteen-day period, you will receive a full refund of your tuition, if and only if, another student fills your child's Summer Camp slot. If no one is available on the Waiting List, your tuition is forfeited.

These cancellation policies are necessary because of the nature of Mrs. Mouse's programs. The membership of classes is exclusive because classes are so small. (We are the world's smallest cooking school, after all.) Supplies and food items are purchased in advance. Last-minute cancellations severely handicap the financial viability of the program.
